In the present world, AI has impacted marketing, gaming, agriculture, finance and many other fields. In this blog we shall look deeply into how AI is contributing productively to the growth of the planet and what are some of its major applications.
AI is the theoretical resource for a computer system, making it perform tasks that are normally performed by humans. This includes:
- visual perception
- speech recognition
- translating languages
A popular example of an AI-based system is MuseNet. This is an intricate neural network which has the ability to generate four-minute musical compositions with ten different instruments. It has the ability to produce music styles from the 17th Century to contemporary beats and rhythms. This system was not pre-programmed to comprehend our understanding of music, but with its ability to decipher and predict the next token in a large sum of MIDI files, by learning on its own.
AI in social media is a very popular concept today. Due to the copious amount of data being produced by chats, posts and tweets etc, AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning are constantly at work—be it for face verification to log into your account, or detection of facial features to tag your friends on posted pictures. Using this technology, minute details are deciphered from images in no time. One of the most important and pivotal roles of the AI has been to detect hate speech in offensive content in tweets, posts and comments. The process uses a combination of AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing to identify terroristic/abusive language and expletives. According to a recently-held survey, Twitter banned 300,000 accounts that had links with terrorist organizations and abettors. 95% of this discovery was made by the Artificially-Intelligent machines and systems.
Virtual Assistants are increasingly getting popular with large corporations. Almost every multi-tier business company now has a Chatbot or Virtual Assistant. These primarily run on the system of AI, performing a wide range of tasks on your command, for example translating human language into the desired action. They can do much more than simply playing your favorite song or updating you about the weather. In fact, business corporations now use these virtual assistants to control devices, managing schedules, make phone calls and get bookings made for company meetings in any hotel of the selected city. Additionally, imagine the bots that have been devised solely for the purpose of marketing. These bots based on AI technology use powerful algorithms to mimic human behavior in marketing a brand or a company.
Additionally, AI is the technology used for Autonomous Vehicles. It has been a while now since Self-driving cars have become a buzz word in the AI industry. The production and subsequent development of such cars will absolutely restructure and revolutionize the entire transportation system. Companies like Waymo held several test drives in Phoenix before launching their first AI-based car service for the public. The AI system collects data from the vehicle’s radar, GPS and cameras to produce control signals that operate the vehicle. Apart from this, the system uses complex, advanced algorithms to accurately predict the happenings in the surroundings or how the objects in the vehicle’s vicinity are likely to act, this makes these vehicles very effective and safe. Another example of an AI-based mechanism is Tesla’s Self-driving cars that drive around without human intervention. The founder of TESLA, Elon Musk, is reported to have announced that Tesla will have fully self-driving cars ready by the end of the year “without having anyone behind the wheel”.
AI in Agriculture is one of its most urgently-needed roles thus far. This is because human beings are eating more than their ability to extract from land, and by 2050 we will have to produce 50% more food than what we are currently producing. The only way we can produce food with sustainability is if we use our resources carefully. Artificial Intelligence can help farmers extract more from the land while using technology. AI can be used to monitor and detect pets on large and small-scale farms, it can also be used to precisely spray on plants for pest-control. The Berlin-based AI startup by the name of PEAT has developed an application “Plantix”, which uses AI to detect pest damages, plant diseases and nutrient deficiencies.
These are just some of the many applications that AI is used in. As the world progresses in technology, other domains and avenues where AI can be employed are likely to surface.

Energy Conservation Other Than Batteries
An alarming fact is that with the upsurge of population, we need to provide energy for more consumers each day, and for this we need a good way to store energy. If on a bright sunny day, we have an abundance of electricity, we can’t use it. This is because we do not have more […]
